What are Life Groups?
Life Groups at Des Moines Fellowship are small groups of three or more
people who meet together sharing a common interest or activity to build
relationships and grow in their relationship with Christ.
Why have Life Groups?
God made us relational beings and created us to live in a community
with one another. God's purposes in our lives are not just fulfilled
through a vertical relationship with Him, but through horizontal
relationships with other people. When Jesus was asked which is the most
important commandment, he said, "You shall love the Lord your God with
all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and
with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your
neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than
these." (Mark 12:28-31) Life is all about relationships - loving God
and loving others. Our Life Groups provide the opportunity to connect
our hearts and lives, creating the friendships that hold the church
together. (Colossians 2:2)
What Life Groups are available?
New Life Groups are formed on a semester basis that loosely follows the
school year -- fall and winter/spring. Check out the posters displayed
in the foyer of the church or look below to see all the opportunities
to connect with other members of Des Moines Fellowship and grow in your
relationship with God.
How do I join a Life Group?
Most Life Groups have a sign-up sheet so the leader can better plan the
activities. After that, all you need to do is show up and get involved.
More about "Free-Market" Life Groups
Discipleship doesn't only happen in a structured environment or by
going through a series of Bible studies. It can, and does happen in the
midst of "doing life" and having fun together -- any time, anywhere,
any way we are connecting with people with the intention of loving and
encouraging one another, of speaking truth into one another's lives,
and helping each to move one step further in our relationship with
Christ. This means that our God-given passions and talents can be used
to build bridges to other people, regardless of where they are on their
spiritual journey.
